Description

The Sr. Purchase Executive role is a critical role that directly impacts the company’s top line and bottom line. This is an individual contributor role where the Purchase Executive interfaces with both Stores and Production functions and ensures the fulfillment of material requirements for the shop floor. The role is a dynamic, high pressure role that will involve field work, interpersonal skills, negotiation abilities, quantitative skills as well as ability to react to production demands at short notice.

Responsibilities

Purchase/Procurement

• Interface with Stores Manager and respond to Production/Stores Indents whenever reorder quantities are reached

• Understanding of pricing and purchase of materials such as Galvanized Iron, Stainless Steel, Copper Mild Steel, Angles, Consumables.

• Place Purchase Requisitions with management for high priority/critical materials and ensure that required materials are in stock in line with the Stores stocking quantities

• Purchase of all Class A, Class B and Class C materials used in manufacturing of solar water heaters, solar PV, or other product lines of the firm.

• Regular items necessary for daily operations of factory as well as ongoing projects (plumbing or electrical items or accessories)

• Get multiple quotations on all items and negotiate best rate with suppliers.

• Keep track of and publish monthly updates on rate changes for critical materials so that management and sales teams can be updated on price changes.

• Arrange inward freight, where required, for materials to be brought to factory.

• In case of imported materials, file appropriate excise paperwork based on management guidance. New Vendor Creation and Development

• Setup new suppliers and maintain relationship with existing suppliers for purchase of items.

• Find alternate materials, which may help the company move over from obsolete materials Pricing Optimisation

• Ensure price tracking, publish relevant price updates and anticipate price hikes

• Optimise pricing by negotiations with suppliers and enter into favourable terms for the company Vendor Payment & Cash Flow Management

• Manage vendor outstandings as per agreed credit terms

• Negotiate better credit terms and ensure better cash turnaround cycles on payables for the firm.

• Ensure payments to vendors in cheques/RTGS form are disbursed in timely fashion by interacting with management/accounts team counterparts

Position Requirements

• A graduate with degree from a reputed university or affiliate (Mechanical Engineering preferred)

• Minimum 4 years experience in a purchase role for a manufacturing enterprise

• Strong negotiation skills, good communication skills and pleasing personality

• Quantitatively/Number oriented, good communication skills and calm under pressure.

• Software skills : MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) mandatory

• Ability to interact with factory staff and communicate well in Kannada, Hindi and English. (Tamil and Telugu will be an added bonus) Working Hours

• Office Hours – 9 am – 5:30 pm, 6 days a week (Monday – Saturday)
